# deploy External Compute Node manually in Arno FUEL Setup [closed]

Hi, I deployed an Arno FUEL setup with one Openstack Controller (ODL installed), and one compute node. The setup is working fine and I am able to get IP address for the VM from ODL. Now, I want to deploy one external compute node with embedded linux and nova-compute installed. I gave similar network configuration (like mgmt, storage, admin IPs and br-int with necessary ports) to the external compute node and connected to the FUEL setup. I started nova-compute in that new compute node. In the Openstack Controller, I am able to see the Compute Node with smiley [':)'] symbol, when I ran the command 'nova-manage service list'. In the Openstack Controller, I uploaded one embedded linux image to the glance and able to spawn it in the new external compute node with 'Running' state. But, now the problem comes. That spawned VM is unable to get the IP address. When I see the flows in the new compute with the command 'ovs-ofctl dump-flows br-int', no flows are added. Can anyone let me know, how can I add an external compute node to the OPNFV Arno FUEL setup manually?

Hi,

Does ovs switch on your external compute has ODL server set as a manager? To do that you can run command:

ovs-vsctl set-manager tcp:ODL_IP:6640


ODL should create br-int bridge. If you are using gre/vxlan segmentation you also should choose which interface will be used for vm data traffic:

ovs-vsctl set Open_vSwitch \$(ovs-vsctl show | head -n 1) other_config={'local_ip'='IP_ADDRESS_OF_LOCAL_INTERFACE'}
